Leaders Define Success, They Don't Dictate it. #WisdomWednesday #Leadership #Success
In our work with great leaders, one trait that transcends all of them is the ability to continually define success for their people and their organizations. If a leader demands and constantly dictates success they might achieve that success but at a cost of resentment, resistance and reluctance.
However if you look to define the success you want, for example, it could be success for your organization in 2016, or even defining the outcomes you would like to achieve for the meeting you are about to lead, people are more likely to be committed and engaged in achieving that success than to be compliant to the demands of the day.
So, do your people know what success looks like? If not, here is your opportunity to lead with clarity.
